The infrastructure is probably what makes this a world class resort - fast, modern lifts, long well-groomed pistes, helpful English speaking staff. Grandma was happy skiing on the wide variety of easy slopes. Daredevil kids loved the ramps at the snowparks. Excellent intermediate, black and off-pistes for the rest of us - can go the entire day without skiing the same thing twice. The run #35 from Vorab to Lavadinas is indescribably beautiful. The place is enormous, so once you get away from the crowds at Crap (hahaha) Sogn Gion station, sometimes it seems like you share the pistes with only a handful of people. The wasabi creme soup at Das Elefant on Crap Masegn is deeelicious. The ski school is well organized, but unfortunately they don't have 1/2 day classes. So, our usual "ski classes in the morning and ski together as a family in the afternoon" plan does not work here. We prefer the Swiss Ski School system (http://www.schweizer-skischule.ch), but for some reason they offer classes at almost every ski resort in Switzerland except Laax. On a poor visibility day, we went sledding from the Curnius station down to Falera - very fun. We stayed at an apartment in the Peaks Place hotel (www.peaks-place.com) - super modern, friendly staff, convenient location (with a private shuttle to the lifts if feeling too lazy to walk the 500 meters), very nice spa facilities that are free for hotel guests, the coop pronto right next door bakes fresh bread on-site. ... My trip to Laax Flims was my first European skiing experience. Overall I enjoyed the scenic alpine terrain, especially the Vorab Glacier - Alp Ruschein run. That run is a fabulous groomer that never ends. It's so long that there's a hut in the middle! My main issue with Laax is the bottle necks. When I reached the end of the Alp Rushein run, a creaky old two person lift took people back up to the resort. There was a long jostling line that took half an hour to get though before I got on the lift. I experienced a few long lines on other lifts.... Full Review

LAAX isn't really a village - it's just a huge mass of houses, wich are spread all over the landscape. The ambiance isn't comfortable. LAAX is a 08/15 skiaerea and too crowded at the weekends. The Ski aerea is nice and the snowpark pretty good. They organize a lot of Events. LAAX for one day is interresting - but it isn't relaxing for holidays...... Full Review

This review is primarily for snowboarders. http://www.otp.co.uk/otp/resorts/flims/picts/flims-piste-map.jpg There are some great runs around Laax and at least two super snowparks near Nagans. If you're riding a snowboard, you should avoid the back of the mountain near Vorab and Fuorcla. When I was there the snow was soft and deep so which is great, but forget crossing from that side to Nagans in those conditions. There are huge flat spots that around Vorab that require a lot of walking and is generally frustrating. The equipment also seems much older than on the Nagans side of the area. I'm used to more boisterous apres ski at the end of the riding day than can be found anywhere in Laax or Flims, but apparently it gets much better at night. I found the apres ski generally boring between 3 and 7. Also, avoid Laax Dorf in the evening - there is just nothing there that I could find. Around Nagans it is really sweet, some HUGE snowparks with massive jumps and rails. This area is really snowboard friendly with steep enough but not annoyingly so pistes. Laax also has tons of off-piste riding available and deep snow abounds if you're into that. Had a good time, but I was new and learned from my mistakes. I hope you learn from this review and find it helpful. ... Full Review

Great area for both skiing and boarding. They have awesome parks and great trails! Plus, the whole area is interconnected (and HUGE), so you can ski/board all day and hardly ever hit the same run more than once. I've stayed in Laax twice now and love being able to walk to the lifts first thing. I've found the people to be great - but remember you are in Europe, it's a little different over here... Hopefully the snow will be better this year than the last two (so far it's looking like it's going to be awesome!). I highly recommend this area, everyone I've taken can't wait to go back!!... I have NEVER been to a more horrible resort than LAAX. Not only are the people in the region rude. The people who work for the resort are rude as well. THe skiing is bad and icy with hardly any snow. I would recommend never to ski here. I most definately will never go back.... Full Review

We have just returned from Flims. The snow is very good, alot falling, apparently, in November and conditions are much, much better in 07/08 than preceding year. Another snow fall soon would be nice, but not essential for good skiing. There are a good mix of runs at all levels, it is very, very family friendly and the Park Hotel Waldhaus is a superb hotel with great facilities (lovely indoor and outdoor pools) and a nice spa (great massages etc. We went with Powder Byrne who are not cheap but who provide excellent childcare and skiing fun for kids. I would recommend this resort and we will probably return before the season ends. There is lots of walking as well for non-skiers and there is stuff laid on especially for snow boarders (half-pipe etc.) We had a great time. ... Full Review

I stayed in Flims over Chrismas and New Year 2006/07 with my wife and 4 year old daughter. The snow wasn't fantasic and at least 50% of runs were closed. However, we all had a fantastic time. The ski school was fantastic with our daughter and still managed to find suitable runs to keep her occupied on her first ski trip. Whilst there was little or no off piste availble, the resort managed the pistes well and used the snow canons whenever the temperature dropped sufficiently. In addition to skiing, the resort was well-geared up to other activities. There is a fab indoor skating rink, sleigh rides and all the other attractions that you would expect from a top class resort. We stayed in the Park Hotel Waldhaus and would highly recommend it. In fact, we're quite likely to stay there again and we're not usually into going back to the same place twice.... Full Review
