just love morzine. so much so we are returning this year. 2 resorts in one. something for everyone. lovely traditional resort as well. highs were skiing back from avoriaz in late afternoon sunsets and lunches high on swiss border with the most spectacular views. we are good intermediate skiiers with 2 young boys and we didnt tire of the variety and challenge. the only thing is, check forecasts if booking early season. its not the highest resort and although avoriaz is snow sure, the lower pleney slopes may not be. also, we went xmas week and had to walk to the lifts for the first few days because the buses hadnt started operating. one other tip - you have to get lift back from avoriaz into morzine at the end of the day. make sure you get there before it closes! ... Been going to morzine now for nearly 20 years and still love it , have skied many other areas and countries but still keep coming back , there is skiing for all abilities and the town has a lovely feel , v traditional even with so many brits , bit pricy but all ski resorts are , always best to head there mid to late jan as resort low and has a tendency to struggle with snow early season ... BEWARE Easy2Ride ski school in Morzine I booked a 5 day beginners group snowboard lesson for my son with Easy2Ride. On arrival in resort I went into their office to be told they did not have enough people to justify the instructors time and so cancelled the group session. Instead they offered 2 private lessons On the second day my son was unwell and so was not able to do the lesson. They refused to credit the money and refused to arrange another day instead, claimed they had no more availability in the week and no other group lesson. The commentary from the staff in the office was that it was just my bad luck and that was tough So in summary I paid nearly £300 for 5 group lessons and ended up with one private lesson Pretty crap ... Have been in and around Morzine for the last 10 years and I still come back and find new experiences. The area is huge and you can ski everywhere on the Portes du soleil (650kms of slopes) and some great offpiste. The restaurants on the piste are good and varied to cater for all tastes and pockets. In the resort you will find an old spa town with lots of classic chalets to rent. Lots of bars and 2 night clubs. Paradis is a must with kitch lepoard skin seats, mirrored walls and uplight dance floor! The spirit of Morzine is held up by the Morzinois, the locals who are very protective of the village and do not like it being abused or changed. This is great for the visitors as we get to see a traditional French town as it should be not as it is arranged for us to see. They are very proud of their village and love to inform everyone of its history and the little nuances it has like the portable distillary, that is the last in France, where all the locals can come with their fruits and make Poir (the local spirit). I could go on for ages but its better if you go yourself. ... Full Review
