Great all round resort
7 of us went to Valloire. 3 couples and a child of 11. 5 had skied before, the child and one adult were beginners. The village itself was very compact, and typically french, with everything within a short distance of the hotel. The hotel was the Plein Sud, the rooms were warm and comfortable, the staff were excellent and extremely helpful and the food was tremendous. Food in the resort was excellent and not too expensive, even on the mountain the food was reasonably cheap and very tasty. There was a selection of bars including a bar that had live music on but it was generally a quiet resort and we were generally in our beds by midnight. Snow conditions were exceptional which always helps. The pistes were well maintained and even though some days it was very quiet all the lifts were operational. Skiing itself was varied and enough for good intermediates although advanced skiers might run out of ideas. The lessons for the child were mainly in french however the instructors did speak english and his skiing came on loads, by the end of the week he was going down red runs and parallel turning. Not really much to fault the resort, location wise it doesn't have a large beginners area into the village. The only lifts out of the village are two main gondolas but you can ski back down to the village. The resort is paired with Valmeiner which is worth a visit this does have an open bowl area in front of the purpose built village with restaurants and bars. All in all an excellent holiday in an excellent resort I would recommend it to everyone.
All amenities close by, great snow, good accomodation
Very small beginners area close to village
