Flachau sits in Salzburg’s Pongau region and forms the eastern gateway to Snow Space Salzburg, linking with Wagrain and St. Johann-Alpendorf in the heart of Ski amadé. The ski area covers 300 ha, with 120 km of pistes, 64 pistes and 45 lifts, and it benefits from reliable winter coverage supported by snowmaking and an average annual snowfall of around 350 cm. The piste mix is well suited to confident recreational skiers, with around 41% intermediate pistes, 48% advanced pistes and 11% expert pistes. The ski area ranges from about 950 m to 1990 m, with a vertical drop of 1040 m and a longest piste of around 8 km, giving visitors a good balance of cruising, steeper sections and full-day variety. Flachau is a strong choice for British skiers who want an efficient, lively Austrian base with modern lifts, broad pistes and plenty for families. Highlights include the Hermann Maier World Cup course, Kidsrun Flachau, timed race sections, photo points and easy access to the wider Snow Space Salzburg network, making it a practical resort for mixed-ability groups and short ski breaks alike.
