In the Lungau region, this is probably the most beautifully situated resort – you feel like you're on a glacier. However, of all the resorts we skied, it was the one we enjoyed the least. We were there in mid-January with our family. There were a lot of people on the slopes (though there were no lines for gondolas or chairlifts). The slopes were poorly groomed (it hadn't snowed in a while), so there were ice and occasional bumps, making the red runs look like black runs and the blue runs look like red runs. Not really for beginners or learners. The pubs lacked atmosphere, with loud music – "commercial." We didn't ski everything, so we'll probably go back next time and maybe the experience will be better. In any case, after Obertauern, we were happy to return to the smaller but very peaceful and charming resorts of Katschberg, Grosseck-Speiereck, and Fanningberg. We felt much better there, and the views were just as amazing. And the slopes were longer!
Beautiful views, lots of trails
Lots of people, commercial place, ice and bumps on some routes

There are many beautiful slopes and lifts, BUT the grooming of the slopes is often abysmal! Many (I'd estimate almost half) of the slopes aren't groomed overnight at all (at least not every day). The result is uniform sheets of ice that stretch down the entire slope. In South Tyrol, EVERY slope is perfectly groomed every morning. The quality of the mountain huts isn't great either; I've rarely eaten so badly as here (lots of convenience food). South Tyrol is miles ahead in that respect too!
Beautiful location, almost all hotels are right on the slopes.
Quality of the slope preparation and quality of the food in the mountain huts.

Unfortunately, despite its great potential, the rating is only so-so – you won't find any corduroy here; quite the opposite – if it snowed overnight, you'll be skiing on moguls, bumps, and ice from 9 a.m. Injury is easy. On the plus side, there are plenty of lift capacity and a wide selection of trails for recreational skiers who appreciate wide but varied slopes. Beautiful views and a few nice après-ski spots, but it's a long way from a top resort.
100 km of trails, most of them nice blue ones
very poor preparation of the routes

Obertauern is perfect for everyone, from beginners to advanced skiers. Simply top-notch!
Perfect kilometers of slopes
I don't know.

Great slopes, always easy to navigate, diverse runs
Guaranteed snow, convenient access from the hotel to the slopes

I like this resort, although the trails aren't always well-maintained. Parking is no problem.
cool routes
sometimes the routes are poorly prepared

Overall, it's a great place: plenty of slopes, excellent snow conditions, no queues for lifts (mid-January), and plenty of places to eat. The downside is the relatively short slopes, and there are definitely too few longer ones for my taste.
A large selection of routes, a carousel around the town, a large selection of freeride routes close to the lifts
The routes are short and not very varied.

For someone who has only skied in Poland, this will be a positive shock, but the trail preparation is poor compared to the Tyrolean competition. If snow falls at night, nothing is done to it, it quickly forms moguls, and at this altitude, maintaining conditions shouldn't be a problem. The trails are short, especially in the north.
a lot of snow
Poorly prepared routes.
