Excellent ski resort, with many slopes and lifts, and a breathtaking view. Unfortunately, it's very expensive and crowded, but it's still worth it.

  • Huge area, excellent facilities
  • It is often very crowded

My third visit to this wonderful resort, and I always want to return. First, there's only one downside: the gigantic (for Italy) queue for the Seceda cable car. If you want to ski this part of Val Gardena or take the descent down the legendary La Longia, unfortunately, you have to be prepared for a long wait. While the small cable car ride up from Ortisei is a standard experience, the second part of the route is a disastrous experience. A large shuttle cable car takes about 60 people up the mountain, and unfortunately, it doesn't go very fast, resulting in long waits. But enough complaining. Val Gardena, and especially Alpe do Siuisi, is a resort for both beginners and advanced skiers. For families with children, cross-country skiers, ski tourers, and freeriders. Starting with the impressive ski park, the kilometers of well-groomed blue and red slopes, and several black ones. Modern lifts, several heated chairlifts, and beautiful, sunny weather. This resort is worth visiting at least once in your life.

  • A vast area with many routes and possibilities
  • Not all solutions are well thought out when it comes to moving around the ski area (see the cable car ride to Seceda from Ortisei)

The only resort you're so eager to return to. Every now and then, we try to find an alternative, but nothing compares to the majestic Sassolungo area, which draws you in like a magnet. We started skiing in Val Gardena with small children, and now they're coming back with us as adults. The best infrastructure, a variety of slopes, a vast resort with excellent transport links. Picturesque Alpe di Siusi, the endless La Longia and Sella Rodna, which we now cycle both ways in one day, plus the Marmolada and the descent from the Fischer Saslong. There's never a dull moment in Val Gardena, that's for sure. Prices? In my opinion, you can find accommodation for every budget. I don't see any difference compared to other resorts. An absolutely unique and unrepeatable place, our number one for years!

  • The number of routes means that during a week-long trip you can ride in a different place every day.
  • I don't think I found it.

Excellent slopes in a spectacular area, but not always well signposted. Despite the considerable fee, the lifts are dated, lack wind protection (e.g., the Fermeda chairlift), and sometimes have endless queues for two-seaters. La Longia is fantastic and highly recommended, as is Città dei Sassi for those who prefer a quieter slope. It's a shame there aren't hourly rates that allow use of all the lifts.

  • Breathtaking views, well-connected ski areas
  • Outdated ski lifts, without wind shelter, despite the high ski pass price

I've been coming to Val Gardena for about 30 years, but obviously I've also been to other mountain resorts... the landscape, the slopes, the huts, the hotels, the food... There's nothing you can do here, we're at the top of the world!!!!

  • Without comparison….
  • Unfortunately, there are a few too many people.

For us, one of the best ski resorts in the Alps.

  • Central starting point for three other ski resorts
  • Accommodation is usually very expensive.

First time, but certainly not the last.

  • Area of the ski area, including Dolomite Superski
  • Connections between different ski areas can sometimes be challenging.

Ortisei is beautiful but often lacks snow; Selva is snowier and more fun, but the slopes aren't always perfectly groomed.

  • number of slopes
  • slope quality

Selva di Val Gardena: the best dedicated ski school - plenty of wide slopes for learning to ski, and just as many for intermediate and expert skiers. Spectacular snow and immaculately maintained slopes with state-of-the-art facilities.
