San Martino di Castrozza, together with Passo Rolle, comprises the Primiero ski area. The town is nestled in a large, open conch of pastures surrounded by thick conifer forests in the shadow of the Pale di San Martino, a group of Dolomite peaks which have inspired poets and musicians and given rise to thousands of legends.

The San Martino di Castrozza - Passo Rolle ski area enjoys a unique position in the Dolomites: located the southern-most point of Dolomiti Superski ski area, it enjoys mild temperatures and sunny weather.

The ski lifts (accessible with a convenient and free skibus), are located near the town and give access to nearly 45 km of slopes in Carosello delle Malghe and Colverde. In total there are 23 ski lifts, including the high speed Tognola and Colverde gondolas and the Punta Ces 4 seat covered chair lift. In addition, recently expanded snowmaking capabilities now guarantee excellent skiing conditions on 95% of the slopes all season long.

There area several cross country rings and trails at the edge of town in Prà delle Nasse.

Skiing and snow sports aren't the only things San Martino has to offer: non-skiers can enjoy excellent shopping and charming local restaurants and bars.

San Martino di Castrozza is one of the most popular destinations in the Dolomites. It is surrounded by fir forests and dominated by the imposing Pale di San Martino range, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Located in Trentino, in the Upper Primiero Valley, it sits at around 1,450 metres above sea level and is easily accessible from Valsugana, Belluno and South Tyrol.
In summer, the Pale di San Martino mountain range glows in hues of pink at sunrise and sunset, a phenomenon known as enrosadira. The village retains an elegant yet intimate atmosphere, with shops, mountain huts, alpine farms and accommodation steeped in tradition.
Summer activities are suitable for everyone, from trekking enthusiasts to families. Hikers can enjoy an extensive network of trails: among the most famous are those leading to Baita Segantini, Rifugio Rosetta, Val Venegia and the scree slopes at the foot of the Pale. Climbing fans will find historic via ferratas and routes for all levels, while those seeking more tranquil experiences can opt for woodland walks, themed paths, nature trails and routes for mountain bikes and e-bikes. Summer cable cars make it easy to reach the 2,500-metre peaks.
Lesser-known activities that allow visitors to discover the area include an ascent to the Pale Plateau at sunset or in the early morning. Also popular are treks accompanied by geological guides to learn about the history of dolomitic rock, or ethnographic walks through the historic hamlets of Primiero, among ancient barns and stone fountains. There are also routes along mountain streams or outings in the woods to spot local wildlife such as deer, roe deer and marmots.
San Martino di Castrozza, with its blend of majestic landscapes, alpine authenticity and high-quality outdoor activities, is an ideal summer destination for those seeking adventure, relaxation and pure nature in the heart of the Dolomites.
