Reviews

Romain Moulin

A large, modern ski area with the Vars-Risoul link, Vars has seen significant infrastructure investment. The resort boasts a beautiful wooded area encompassing the Écrins valley and a lovely hinterland (Saint Paul sur Ubaye). A charming resort, it's comprised of small villages catering to all tastes. As a high-mountain resort, Vars guarantees reliable snow throughout the winter season. Furthermore, substantial investments have been made in water sources, enabling continuous artificial snowmaking. The ski slopes are well-maintained, ensuring enjoyable days on the slopes. Shops throughout the resort are of high quality, particularly the bakery at Point Chaud and the butcher shop in Les Claux. However, in recent years, lift pass prices have skyrocketed, as have prices at mountain restaurants. You can improve your purchasing power with the Saturday lift pass discounts offered. For those on a tighter budget, it's wiser to rent in the smaller villages before the resort center (Saint Marcellin, Sainte Marie, etc.). The resort is well-served by its bus network. The 18-30 age group might not find what they're looking for. It's true that Risoul has better après-ski options.
